Buku ini merupakan kumpulan pilihan tulisan Bung Karno dari tahun 1926 sampai tahun 1957. Antara lain, Nasionalisme, Islam dan Marxisme (1926), Indonesia Menggugat (1930), Mentjapai Indonesia Merdeka (1933), Kepada Bangsaku (1947), dan Konsepsi Presiden Soekarno (1957).
Tulisan Nasionalisme, Islam dan Marxisme diambil dari karangan Bung Karno di madjalah “Suluh Indonesia Muda” jang terbit pada tahun 1926. Artikel Kepada Bangsaku dikutip sebagian dari pada bab VI buku “Sarinah” yang terbit pada tahun 1947. Sementara, Konsepsi Presiden Soekarno merupakan pidato Presiden Soekarno di RRI Djakarta pada tanggal 21 Pebruari 1957.
