BK dan NehruBung Karno dan Bung Hatta menyambut kedatangan Jawaharlal Nehru, Perdana Menteri India, ke Indonesia pada 7 Juni 1950. Mereka bertiga dikenal bersahabat dan sama-sama gigih membela perjuangan rakyat di negara-negara baru merdeka. Saat Bung Karno dan Bung Hatta diasingkan Belanda, PM India tersebut mengadakan Konferensi New Delhi tentang Indonesia, 22 Januari 1949. Dalam pidato pembukaan Konferensi Pandit (Guru) Nehru mengatakan: “… Setiap orang yang mengenal jiwa rakyat Indonesia akan mengetahui bahwa segala upaya menekan nasionalisme dan keinginan merdeka bangsa Indonesia pasti akan gagal.”
